“Teachers who LOVE teaching, teach children to LOVE learning.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.  Hello! My name is Tina Stevenson.  I was born and raised in Monett, Missouri; a small town not far from Springfield. As a young student, I explored the idea of a teaching degree but my love of words and writing lead me to Missouri State University (or SMSU as I knew it) to develop myself as a journalist. After college, I found my dream job as a freelance writer and then editor in chief of a regional bridal publication. Shortly after my husband, Justin, and I were married we decided to have a family. I changed hats from editor to mother and stayed home to raise my three children- Andrew (16), Claire (13) and Kate (7). Six years ago, I began teaching pre-kindergarten at a local preschool. I fell head over heels in love with not only the children but also with teaching. It was as if I was always supposed to find my way into this field. I’ve also taught PSR (Parish School of Religion) courses for preschoolers through first graders at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for four years. When I’m not watching Andrew on the golf course or taking Claire/Kate to dance class, I find myself volunteering with various non-profits throughout our community. I also love to travel and explore new cities, cultures and cuisine.

I’m looking forward to meeting new Fiction, Facts and Fun families and reconnecting with past students as we begin a new academic year together. This year is sure to be wild so we will stay as flexible as possible to provide you and your child with the best enrichment education possible!

Can't wait to see you all soon,

Tina

INSTRUCTOR: DR. RUTH HARRIS

Hello, friends!

My name is Ruth Harris. I currently reside in Bolivar, Missouri with my husband, Tony, and our two children, Emily (13), and Zander (9).

I have been homeschooling our kids for ten years, and it has been an incredible adventure. I also taught afterschool enrichment for four years, working for Dallas County Schools. Blending these two worlds gave me the opportunity to use my gifts and calling, and I have loved every minute.

I come to you with a masters in teaching (birth-6), and a doctorate in education, education leadership-curriculum & instruction.

One of my favorite things about being an educator is the ability to come alongside parents, to act as a springboard and encourager, during the foundational years of development. This partnership is beautiful, and it equates to so much growth in the life of a child.

It has been such an honor to help Tina out at Fiction, Facts, & Fun, this past year; getting to know your incredible children, and learning so much from her outstanding teaching example. It brings me great joy to think about the different opportunities we will have to learn and grow together, with your sweet children, this new school year! Now, more than ever, we need each other! It’s going to be a great year, I just know it.

Blessings,

Ruth
